The Mephisto Club by Tess Gerritsen

The last thing Dr. Maura Isles and Detective Jane Rizzoli wanted to be doing on Christmas Eve was investigating a murder. They never expected the brutallity of this young woman's death. Written in blood on the wall was a message in Latin accompanied by upside down crosses. This chilling evidence started a case that would lead them to a group of scholars calling themselves the Mephisto Club.
Club members devote their lives to analyzing evil and helping law enforcement all over the world solve murders. They truly believe that Satan himself exists among us. When someone is murdered at the home of one of the Club members, they begin to fear that they are now the target of the very evil they are trying to study. After being invited to join the Mephisto Club and refusing, Maura finds that she is now a possible target of this evil being.
Club members are now asking themselves if this killer could be one of their own, or have they inadvertently summoned an evil entity from the darkness? Jane and Maura soon discover that a murder had taken place in another state that could very well be related to the ones they are now investigating. After driving out to meet the medical examiner and Sherriff they are convinced that the murders are all connected and they are now on a hunt for a young woman who had fled to Italy years before.
Delving into the most disturbing case of their careers, Jane and Maura embark on a horrifying journey to the heart of evil, where they find an enemy more dangerous than any they have ever faced before, one who's work is only just beginning. Follow along on this wonderfully written mystery as the two women work to find and stop this evil killer and save they lives of the remaining Mephisto Club Members.
The Mephisto Club is truly the work of a very talented author. Tess Gerritsen is an internationally bestselling author.
